Saint and the Sinner..................!

“The only difference between the saint and the sinner is that every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.”
Oscar Wilde
I’m great lover of Oscar wilde, Sometime when my relations or friends asking why I’m still unmarried  my simple answer is I’m looking for a man who is identically look like Dorian Grey.

But not with the ruthless and selfish characteristics, there is no any luck so far.But defiantly it was Oscar Wilde that who taught me the beauty of the masculinity.
This is not about Oscar Wilde; today I’m going to talk about our foreign minister Mangala Samaraweera. Both Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Oscar Wilde connected with one common thread. That is their sex orientation. In Sri Lanka accepting “it “and live a social life any body needs to have certain amount of courage. Minister Managala Samaraweera had that courage both with political power as well without it.

Minister Mangala Samaraweera is coming from a political family. His father was a cabinet minister under Mr.Bandaranayka’s Government. But unlike other minister’s sons today minister Mangala Samaraweera did not enter into politics in his early ages. By profession he was a fashion designer. The time he started his life as a fashion designers it was in early 80’s.In Sri Lanka very few people involved in fashion design as a profession. That time as fashion designers opportunities s were limited resources were restricted no internet to check New York fashion week or Paris fashion week. Only Colombo based crowd were actively participating at functional events. Very few people actually knew Mangala Samaraweera as Minister Mahanama Samaraweera’s    son.

It was in 1994 election people vote for political reform. But nothing significantly changed, But Mr, Mangala Samaraweera ended up become a minister. As far as I remember he was the minister for Sri Lanka telecom. We have to accept Sri Lanka telecom started improve their service and most of rural area got fixed land lines, Most of the time Minister Mangala Samaraweera made his impression in very  pre mature way. He was unconditionally defending his friends.

When Olympic Silver medal winner Susanthika Jayasinghe openly spoke about sexual harassment by a cabinet minister it was Minister Managala Samaraweera started defending his colleague. Minister Samaraweera compared MS Susanthika Jayasinghe to a black American boy and said he can’t believe that anyone would have sexually harassed woman who look like a black American boy. Further he explained his preference towards black Americans; He spoke this in the parliament. I feel it a very inappropriate speak to a cabinet minister, It’s very mean and raciest speak, any politician should not have done.

He did not stop his fouled mouth only in the parliament there was a time former Sri Lankan chief justice charged with Adultery and misuse of his power as the chief justice. That time Minister Managala Samaraweera was media spokesman for cabinet. There was a press conference including chief Justice, The” Rawaya” newspaper editor Victor Ivan asked question at the press conference on major issues that Sri Lanka supreme court facing . Even that time Minister Mangala Samaraweera shamelessly stood up with Chief Justice.

Later in newspaper Mr Victor Ivan through his writing Minister Mangala Samaraweera was introduced as an underwear garment designer. Well it a part of the fashion designs. Designing comfortable underwear is not an easy task, but unfortunately most of Sri Lankan cannot afford expensive good quality underwear’s. I have no wonder why Mr. Victor Ivan thinking designing it’s a very easy task.
My personal believe designing good quality underwear is more important than becoming a politician. We have politicians everywhere, but to the whole work only one CK.

Even in the politics Minister Mangala Samaraweera is a man with good taste. Minister Mangala Samaraweera home town is Matara, a coastal town in the southern province. While he was the minister for urban development he did made major Modification over Matara town.

Actually looking at the overall development in Matara Town definitely make into nice transitional town than a fishing area. And potentials being discovered, most places nicely people friendly way achieved. A man without any taste cannot approve it other important thing he did was Redeveloping Seema Malakaya At Gangarama Temple.
I’m not sure how many of you remember that island with shacky looking building in the island. Somehow Minister Mangala Samaraweera able to convince the chief monks of Gangarama Temple cleared the island .What we see today is a result of his work. May be some of my architect friends have different perspective of the blue colored alienate roof structure but not too bad from what it was.both Bridged look very identical but it does not matter...something is better than it was...

It was not Ex-President Mahinda Rajapaksha only one who was charged for excessive expenses, as the minister or port and aviation minister Managala Samaraweera spent lot of money for interior changes and hired leading architect in Sri Lanka. Not only that when this was questioned he boasted about his lavish expenses and said he would have spent more.

But with the time he ran out of his happy hours. There is no close friends or enemies in politics. President Chandrika at one point started keep her strong hands over Mangala Samaraweera. They joined with upcoming Mahinda Rajapaksha Movement in 2005.including his close friend Sripathi Suriararchichi. From the new government they expected good ministries as gifts. But with the Mahinda Rajapaksha government there only chances were available to his family and relations. Sripathi Suriararchichi was accidentally died and Mangala Samarawera was kicked off from the inner circle of MR government.

With so many unsuccessful attempts of making his own political party Mangala Samarawera ended up at united national party. Somehow 2015 was a good year for most of political refugees. Mangala Samarawera ended up becoming the foreign minister. He is not a young guy anymore; He is now 59 years old. Though he has no visibly gray hair but he is showing very maturity of what he is doing. I have a friend who is working in the ministry of Foreign, He told me as a minister he is working at late night sometimes he is buying a dinner from nearby shop and having it at office. Most importantly he did not spent government money in interior modifications.

Sri Lanka was in a danger with the international world in the beginning of this year. Somehow as a foreign minister he able to make good will among USA, As a result of it we had a very narrow escape form the United Nations committee of human rights.

Not only his hardworking he is showing great maturity of ideas, Even in parliament his speeches are well prepared and  there is something we can learn from it,  Now minister Mnagala Samarweera not a young guy.

He is almost 60.I don’ know who is the private secretary to Minister. He had a celebrity private secretary once, Anarkalee Arkashaa, The minister himself through a birthday

arty at once in H2O night club. So far I did not see old drams are repeating. But it’s too early to decide saint or sinner. Yet again every sinner has a future…….. Hope for the best…..

Random Records...........................!

Some people were born with records. I can remember sometimes ago Athena Onassis de Miranda was the world youngest Billianror at the age of 07.

She was the granddaughter of Aristotle Onassis and she inherited 50 % of the of the Aristotle Onassis’s wealth. But Onassis de Miranda married Brazilian Olympic show jumper Álvaro de Miranda Neto in 2005. She did not change her name as well now she has over 3 billion wealth at the age of 30.

What else those who does not born without records. Does it make we are very normal average ordinary people? It should not be the same way we can keep some records if we really wanted.
As a country we have interesting record. We have the first female prime minister in the whole world, which is an unbeatable record. We have two Olympic medal holders as well world cricket champions.
Recently Sri Lankan together made a record making world number one Google sex searches.

Internet is not widely available in rural areas in Sri Lanka. By the time we were number one google sex searching nations in the whole world government did not provide WI-FI zones very much. Basically most of the hard work done by office working Sri Lankan's through their desktops. That records actually a symbol of Sri Lanka. We defeated countries over Billions of population such as China and India. How much hard work we have done to archive it.

Also we did made the world largest milk rice under the supervision of celebrity chef Dr.T.  Pabilis Silva, but unfortunately Sri Lankan now turns into burgers and fried rice nation. Large quantity of world largest Milk rice threw away when it gone badly.
Those are all group attempts of united Sri Lankans. Our Prime Minister Mr Ranil Wickramasinghe recently made record for being selected as a prime minister for forth times. This time he defeated a record which is 118 years old previously held by British Prime minister William Ewart  Gladstone December 1809 –1898.

I think he might have chance of renew this record in future. Still he is in his sixties. But he need our support to renew this record…will see how it going to work in four years.
However there are certain people who really like of having record individually.Understanding  this mentality of this kind of people the Guinness book of record committee have placed their representative throughout the world.

The first Sri Lankan Guinness record holder  was Suresh Joachim In 1991, Joachim's first record attempt involved running in his hometown of Colombo, Sri Lanka for at least a little bit every hour for 1000 consecutive hours, (August 19-September 26, 1996; 42 days), totaling a distance of 3,495 km.
On his second attempt for record breaking, Joachim traveled 225.44 km, up and down escalators at the Westfield Burwood Shopping Centre, Burwood, New South Wales, Australia. Joachim next balanced for 76 hours and 40 minutes at Vihara Maha Devi Park Open Air Stadium, in Sri Lanka.
Also he did not forget his wedding day.

It was held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mississauga, Ontario. The wedding featured record 79 bridesmaids, a record 47 groomsmen, and a record 60.09 m (197 ft. 1 in) long wedding bouquet, held by the bride. Not too bad. I guess this was much better than the movie “26 Dresses”.

Few days ago In Sri Lanka we lost another record holder. He is a Karate sports player. He had several record of being tough including breaking concrete cubes by bare hand, and so and so.Somehow it claims he has 10 Guinness records .He was  a tough guy but not anymore ,a group of people  had beaten  him to his death. The tough Guy lost his last breath at Anuradhpura Hospital.

I have seen very philosophical disciplined simple martial art expert in Kung Fu. The movies are always deceptive in many ways. Later I saw karate kid movie series where we see good and bad martial art teachers, students.

The Sri Lankan Toughest guy who had 10 world records claims to be a karate champion. He has his long term connections with international as well specially with Japan.
We all know that the pride comes before fall, but in life very few has courage to accept it.Same as with the Sri Lanka toughest guy.But he did not think of  start  an academy of Karate or make discipline among youths. As my understanding shaolin temple monks are vegetarians as well nonsmokers and don’t consume any alcohol. Karate or Kung-Fu even Taekwondo  sports with disciplines.

I'm a green belt holder in Karate, Still I remember our first lesson was Karate not meant to be attack some one.it s always preventing attackes. The master who though us clearly stated to prevent any danger  we all have  to be keep our mind always clear.
The moment I grow up I never ended up being a vegetarian or nonalcoholic, but I m a nonsmoker. Happy for me…
Anuradhapura it’s an ancient city as well it’s  one of the most sacred pilgrim sites to Sri Lankan Buddhist. But  Anuradhapura not a peaceful town. Anuradhpura belongs to the dry zone and its capital of north central province. My father somehow very much likes Anuradhpura. One of his favorite place was 40 km away from Anuradhapura town. Some people like the dry and harsh weather.

During Sri Lankan civil war Anuradhapura town was the only civil town just after the combat zone. Soldiers those who on their vacation made this town into a resort town. Everything what a soldier does not have at war was in the Anuradhapura Town for very law end price. Even before the war Anuradhapura town had provided all services those who visited as pilgrims.
It  had many hotels, lodging places or any accommodations at every scale of price. But Anuradhapura never had a night club. The first night club opened in Anuradhapura belongs to this Sri Lankans toughest guy.Apart from the world records he was  good breed of violence .His father was an infamous criminal in 1970 and he was executed by the government.

However with the help of some politician he has opened thins night club. Actually the night club culture is plugged into Sri Lankan society with the introduction of Open economy. We have several night clubs based on commercial capital Colombo. In western culture Night club is more like a meeting place to adults. There we can go with girlfriends or partners, But Sri Lanka any decent man never think of taking their girlfriends or partners. Most of the night clubs are well known territories for each and every abusive work. The Anuradhapura night club members were mainly  school children, the waitress were  found out nearby with very low daily wedge.

I can write another complete blog about Sri Lankan night clubs, I’ll do it somewhere in future. Somehow this Anuradhapura Night had become a terror of that area. As a result of this long chain process incidents there are about 20 people organized and came to the night club and attacked .Well it only Bruse Lee and David Caradeen able to fight with group of people alone, the tough Guy lost his life. He was beaten to death.

Someone else death will never make me happy, but this news does not make me sad either. The lord Buddha clearly stated five professions that an average Buddhist should have avoided.
‘Samma Ajeewa’ is a word in ancient Pali language, meaning ‘Right Livelihood’ that emphasizes on earning one’s livelihood and acquiring wealth in a righteous and wholesome manner that is moral and ethical. Right Livelihood is one of the principles of the Noble Eight Fold Path taught by the lord Buddha. There are five things clearly mentioned in Buddhism saying that should avoid by trading. Such as selling drugs, selling poison, selling flesh or killed animal meat, selling weapons and selling people as slaves.

The Lord Buddha was far ahead than President Abraham Lincoln. Over.Over 2500 years ago Lord Buddha condemned selling people as slaves. At lease President Abraham Lincoln abolished the Slavery in 19th Century but I’m very sure any of the weapon producers will never think of stop trading weapons for another centuries.
Forget about the world. If this world record holder had learnt something from his father life he would have follow something else. Also if he had learnt anything out of martial arts or Karate than the mussel power his life would have never ended up like this.

Creations..................

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. ..”
        -Genesis 1:1

That’s what Bible says, even the great scientist Albert Einstein said that “God does not play dice with the Universe”. Even though the greatest scientist of the 20th century believed in God.

But in Sri Lanka most of us Buddhist. Buddhism it’s more than a religion it is a Philosophy.Lord Buddha never said anything about creation. As Buddhist we are very reason oriented.
“Ye dhammā hetuppabhavā tesaṁ hetuṁ Tathāgato āha,
Tesañ-ca yo nirodho - evaṁvādī Mahāsamaṇo.”
Simply meaning of it “all phenomena arise from causes;
Those causes have been taught by the Tathāgata (Buddha),
And their cessation too has been proclaimed by the Great Śramaṇa.”

But how ever man created certain things. Actually my understanding it’s not really creating. Man invented or found out certain things.
The simplest and the greatest invention I believe it’s the wheel. It was in the nature. But at a turning point man founded out it. The man was smart enough of using it, the gravity of law was in the nature, man waited till 1660 to find out it.
It’s difficult to be an inventor or founder to all of us. Very few people can achieve it.When I was in first year of architecture school I had a great teacher, who was kind of philosopher, a dancer, a musician as well sometimes a child he is man of many things. In architecture school at first year I was trying to fly before even I can’t walk properly. My teacher, Arch C.Anjalendran with his firm voice told me “don’t try inventing architecture, the wheel is already invented”.

In my view the most successful l architects did not invent, they inspired from what is already there and they used at the correct way.
But in 1953 two young American and British scientist discovered how we created. But they did not find out how it was created or who created it, but they said we found the secret of the universe. Yes it is true DNA was the secret of everyone.Even though In 1953, James Watson and Francis Crick suggested what is now accepted as the first correct double-helix model of DNA structure in the journal Nature. Their double-helix, molecular model of DNA was then based on a single X-ray diffraction image  taken by Rosalind Franklin and Raymond Gosling in May 1952, as well as the information that the DNA bases are paired—also obtained through private communications from Erwin Chargaff in the previous years.

But in 1962 they won Nobel Prize for Medicine. The DNA; Deoxyribonucleic acid is a molecule that carries most of the genetic instructions used in the development, functioning and reproduction of all known living organisms and many viruses. DNA is a nucleic acid; alongside proteins and carbohydrates, nucleic acids compose the three major macro molecules essential for all known forms of life.
We all created by DNA’s. It’s not to diminish our unique genealogical tree, but it’s basically the same as everyone else. But those similarities are important: They’re what make us human. The difference is 0.1%
Better not to imagine what would happen to us if we have at least 5% difference.
Actually we are 1.2 percent genetically different from chimpanzees. Our last common ancestor lived about 6 million years ago. We’re almost as close to gorillas, but 7 percent different from rhesus monkeys. After billions of years of evolution, we share genes with all living things on earth.
Very importantly a study shows that women are more attracted to the scent of a man with a different genetic code than her own. A difference in DNA increases the chance for healthy children. So, what you perceive as chemistry may in fact be DNA!

Also if we unwrap our entire DNA in our body cells we can reach the moon 6000 times.

Apart from these formal studies I have very Sri Lankan facts .The project where I’m involving we have a something very much like a DNA.Well we are going to construct parallel double helical at a parking of six stories building.

Well I did certain amount of time to study drawings and did some basic 3Dimages of it.Finally I think I nailed it a basic shape. We have time, we just finished pilling. I will update with real images.
Well I’m not scared of DNA or its shape or anything, but in Sri Lanaka we have an entire department now scared of even the name of DNA.It s the Sri Lanka Department of police. Technically the police should not be afraid of anything, but with the arrival of DNA witness at Sri Lanka courts the police facing in very difficult time.

The General method of Sri Lankan police investigations are if there is a crime all the suspects will bring in to police. By law they can keep 24 hours for questioning. I think the most of the other countries following the same method.

The suspects may have kept even 72 hours with the court order, and keep questioning. Well I m not sure what happen behind the walls in Police, but in the end the police has written and signed confession. With the signed confession they produced suspects in to the courts. Sri Lankan Medias are very good, they report everything with great enthusiasm, and some are true some are fictions to make the news very attractive.
The most reason example of this is one of the suspect in a tragically crime the media made him in to  barbarian .As per the media the suspects eats  row fish not  that  famous  Sashimee  in a fancy Japanese restaurant ,  as per medias he had raw  fish straight away from the River. He does not sleep in houses always sleeps on top of the trees.
But DNA reports cannot be fictions, it clearly stated none of DNA does not matching with the evidences of the crime and the suspects. Fortunately   god created us with DNA. At least as Sri Lankan if we are not guilty we can come home after spending few days, few weeks or few years behind the bars. It is better rather than be hanged without no Guilt.

We don’t have to worry about the negative media publicity the same media will organize grand press conference to explain what happened behind the walls. We have some lawyers who will appear on behalf of us against the Police department to safe guard the human rights. We can spent some time in the courts and home fully we can get a considerable amount as a compilation.

This entire mess actually created by us. But my question is who created us?...

A Selifish Request..................

We can call them in many names, but throughout the world they are doing one same thing. That is the world oldest profession. Both men and women engage on this profession willingly or unwillingly. There are movies, songs novels, research, legal frame work but nothing has able to reduce the sex workers. As population grows their number also increasing.
Few days ago there was a press conference in Sri Lanaka by female sex works asking the legal protection and make it more legitimate profession in Sri Lanka. One of the   female sex workers at the press conference giving easiest reason why they are engaging in this profession.Their point is only looking at one side of the whole picture that is only the men coming to the female sex workers. Men responsible for making them into sex workers.so continue their profession they need legalized professional acceptance from the society. But sex trade mostly women dominates by women. Even most of brothel owners are Women. Even former JVP Leader Somawansa Amarasinghe’s   sister was brothel owner. Legalizing will be good for them they can avoid lawyers fee.But there are real stories like   Travis in Taxi driver. we cant make the complete blame over men making women into sex workers.

No body can’t gain respect by law”. “Respect to be earned”, if these sex workers think legalizing this a will bring the respect to them as well their children it’s the most moronic dream. In reality we are too far away from the “Respectful Prostitute”   By Jean-Paul Sartre,

Not only in Sri Lanka generally most of the time sex workers consider as women dominated thing. But in my understanding it’s not really true, even large number of men also engages in this profession.
Everyone has their own reasons at some point what they are doing. I f someone addicted to drug that is not his or her own fault. There are so many parties have responsibility of making someone drug addicted. But can we accept making drug ad-dictation legalized that will help make any  better change to the society. I don’t think so.

At one point we may be misled my someone, at one point someone may be forcefully make into a sex worker. But making legalize this profession will it make any better to them. During the Second World War large number of Korean women forcefully taken in to Japanese Military bases, these women were known as “Comfort women”. They were forcefully made into not sex workers; they were sex slaves for the Japanese army. But after the war none of these women did not ask legalizing their profession in Korea. They protest against what they had to face by force, but they did not ask the right to continue it. I’m pretty their lives must be divested by people with weapons.

In Sri Lanka there is a local proverb that is the “man who got into the well or a pit has to come out of the same way “, it seems Sri Lankan sex workers are arguing based on this. But this is not correct. Just because someone got raped or does not have a husband or forcefully made in to sex worker will not affect by making it in to legitimized profession. In Sri Lanka there may be situation people openly sending their wives, daughter and sister for sex work.it will definitely increased the number of sex workers, but generations will suffer over this.

It is a brave thing to stand out for our rights, but not for selfish reasons. They are taking examples form red-light districts in Bangkok and Netherlands. Well Thailand Pataya as well some parts of the Bangkok really sin cities. Nothing has made any better in Thailand for sure.

But Netherlands they have well organized social structure before sex work legalized. unfortunately we get influenced  the least appropriate thing from everywhere. If we really wanted be like Netherlands first thing we should do make public transport more efficient in urban .Sri Lanka traffic and poor condition of the traffic is more crucial  issues than sex workers in term of pollution and economy. We  are losing one billion rupees in everyday due to urban traffic. Actually when we fixed this issue we might think about legalizing sex work in Sri Lanka. Till that as it appear to me we are not ready for such drastically change in our society.

At the press conference one of the sex worker asked who is going to feed their children, according to her this is the only way of feed her children.

Cost of living and looking after families are common issues for everyone. Being a sex worker will it solve? If we want to earn money we can steal, we can sell drugs, we can rob banks, and even if we don’t do some one will be doing it. It is impossible to make the everything perfect. But legalizing any of above will it be a reason to minimize or any better to the society.
Like everybody else we can talk any rubbish to the media. Media has a huge responsibility what they going to give to the public. In my understand Sri Lankan media gave unnecessary publicity over this press meeting to make their media stations popular.

"When I was young and had no sense
In far-off Mandalay
I lost my heart to a Burmese girl
As lovely as the day.
Her skin was gold, her hair was jet,
Her teeth were ivory;
I said, "for twenty silver pieces,
Maiden, sleep with me".
She looked at me, so pure, so sad,
The loveliest thing alive,
And in her lisping, virgin voice,
Stood out for twenty-five."

- George Orwell
